The Saturday Toward Excellence Program (S.T.E.P) is a partnership between Chantilly Pyramid Minority Student Achievement Committee and Chantilly High School. This tutorial program offers free tutoring for students in grades 3 through 12 in a variety of areas.
S.T.E.P is open to students in (cluster seven and part of cluster eight). We cover all subjects although; the most popular subject is mathematics. We also offer study skills, test taking, time management, organizational and writing skills workshops.
S.T.E.P. meets three (3) Saturday mornings a month in the Media Center at Chantilly High School from 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. For further information contact Barbara Tyler btyler1@nvcc.edu
BITS
The Bulldog Instructional Tutoring of Students (BITS) is a tutoring and mentoring program at Westfield High School, free to middle and high school students. Volunteers come from the community, businesses and educational professionals while student tutors come from the National Honor Society and the Interact Club. Tutoring is held three Saturdays per month in the media center from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM.
The Summer Math Institute is designed for students in middle and high school who want a "head-start" in pre-algebra, algebra and geometry. The sessions — held when funds are available — meet three evenings per week for three weeks at Chantilly High School.
CPMSAC is proud of the academic accomplishments of our students. After the 1st and 2nd grading periods, eligible students will receive certificates from CPMSAC. The certificates are one way CPMSAC rewards students for their hard work.
S.T.E.P has designed a reading program in partnership with Chantilly Regional Public Library to help students improve their reading skills. There are two parts to the program: The first part is the Reading Club which students in all grade level are encouraged to read for fun and develop a wide knowledge base through reading. Students and their parents meet at the library for book talks. The second part of program is called Read Out Loud. Tutors work with elementary students who are being tutored for reading improvement. Students are given reading assignments to read out loud and answer questions from their readings, and participate in reading discussions.
The highest student achievers in grades four through 12 are recognized annually by CPMSAC. The program also provides incentives and motivation for those students working hard to reach the highest academic achievement possible.
An annual early evening to mid-night session for middle and high-school students (with parents and consultants) focusing on school "survival" skills, specific academic skills, and leadership training.
A cultural/heritage celebration program to emphasize the strength of diversity and the value of racial harmony in schools and communities.
